I am a tropical ecologist. My research focuses on finding ways to promote biodiversity and rainforest connectivity in tropical agricultural landscapes. I combine analyses of biodiversity datasets from oil palm plantation landscapes in Southeast Asia and connectivity modelling techniques to test the environmental impacts of sustainable palm oil certification. I also work closely with multiple stakeholders, including oil palm growers, to help inform management and monitoring practices of conservation set-asides and improve biodiversity and connectivity in oil palm landscapes.

My research is linked to the SEnSOR (Socially and Environmentally Sustainable Oil Palm Research) project, which is a multi-disciplinary research programme designed to test the impact of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO): the leading certification standard for palm oil.
